Paintings
Sarah works with several painting mediums, including gouache pigments on watercolor paper, as well as acrylic on wood and canvas.
For her gouache paintings she combines pen and ink with the pigments to create realistic, yet graphically bold botanical illustrations.
For her paintings on wood Sarah plays with the natural patterns found in woodgrain, and incorporates these features within her surreal and dreamlike paintings. The abstract and unique patterns created by the grain inspire the direction of each individual piece. Sarah primarily selects upcycled, scrap pieces of lumber. For her canvas paintings, Sarah chooses a vivid and bright color palette to portray the rich and vibrant scenery of Hawaii.
