Woodblock and Linocut Prints
For these woodblock and linocut prints, Sarah carves either shina wood or ArtPrint Linoleum. Shina is a fine-grained plywood from Hokkaido, the northern-most island of Japan, which is harvested selectively and sustainably. ArtPrint Linoleum is made in the Netherlands and it is specifically made for printmaking. It contains no PVCs, just natural materials, including linseed oil, rosin, wood flour and limestone pressed onto a jute backing. The inks used are non-toxic Akua liquid pigment and applied to the blocks with a brayer tool. These images are either printed on Arches 88, a western made paper, or Japanese Washi Paper.
